What is By the Sword?

By the Sword is a series of sci-fi adventure (point-and-click) computer games where you play as Lieutenant Ronald Garner, an ambitious and idealistic officer in the Star Force who finds himself in the midst of a mystery he must solve.

BtS: Foreword

In Foreword, the short-length precursor to By the Sword: Conspiracy (our upcoming feature-length commercial venture), you have just arrived on Earth at your home, only to find your house has been demolished, with a calling card left behind. Jeremy, your friend since childhood, contacts you and invites you to the café he owns, with the promise of information that might aide you in your quest for the truth.

We are currently hard at work in developing Foreword, from graphics to scripting, from dialog to story. We are confident that the game will be released sometime in the Fall of 2010, later this year.

By the Sword: Conspiracy

The second game in the series, BtS: Conspiracy, will be a full-length, large-scale, commercial game to be released within a year or two of Foreword. In BtS: Conspiracy, you awaken from cryogenic stasis to find that the starship on which you serve has been completely deserted. This is where the bigger picture is unveiled, which makes the events of Foreword seem like a bad day at the office.

The Timeline of 2197

The events of Foreword, while chronologically occurring before those of Conspiracy, are told from a point of view that takes place after the end of Conspiracy. While that may seem confusing at first, keep in mind that Foreword is essentially a “flashback” story, speaking of events that are crucial to the plot of the “main” story in Conspiracy.
